Retail training for Veterinary Practices

Here is a little story……………………

I like going to the vets with my cats and as I sat in the waiting room for my appointment I began to notice how the retail merchant area in the waiting room looked. On the surface it looked pleasant but not very enticing or easy to shop due to the fact that if I moved one item another would tumble down on to me!

There were also items without a price on them so I thought the product would be too expensive. I did not like to ask, as the receptionist was busy with other clients and the phone kept ringing.

I decided to leave the cat food as I did not want the embarrassment of many smaller items falling noisily onto the floor and having to say “sorry for ruining your display”. The receptionist asked for the bill to be paid and I handed over my Visa card which was processed very efficiently and as it was going through she asked me about purchasing the cat food. By this time I had the cat in the basket and the kids screaming to get home for tea! 

“No I will leave it!” I said

“OK” said the receptionist

I left the Vets still needing to get cat food and the kids needed their tea.So I popped into my local store for cat food.

At the end of day trading the Practice owner asked how much money had been taken and it was reasonable.

“Did you manage to sell any of our new Cat food and retail products?” questioned the Practice owner

“No not one item” replied the receptionist. ” Clients are just not interested.”

“Oh” said the Practice owner.
