Reward and Recognition

We all like to be rewarded and recognised for a job well done. As an Employee we like to feel valued by our Employer and to know that our efforts have been recognised by our peers.

Reward and recognition is always being talked about in the work place by Employers and Employees alike. The most talked about when discussing this subject; is around monetary reward such as pay rises and bonuses and other incentives. When implementing Reward and Recognition programmes, employers and businesses should ensure that all employees are able to take part and that they are fairly monitored and implemented.

In times of recession it is not always possible for businesses to give pay rises or introduce bonus schemes for their employees, due to other financial obligations. However as a Small Medium Enterprise there are other ways of showing you appreciate your employees that perform to high standards or over and above.

So how can I reward and recognise employees as a Small Medium Enterprise on a budget?

Well there are a number of ways businesses in the Small Medium Enterprise sector can show they appreciate their workforce without breaking the bank. You may need to increase sales, so offer a sales drive competition that everyone can take part in. The most money that is genertated in turnover wins a special prize. There could be prizes and awards for employees who are Senior managers,Managers, supervisors, sales staff, receptionists and so on.

As a business owner you may want to recognise and reward an employee who has generated new income into your business by training others and writing their own training plans to get new recruits through induction. Reward and recognition does not have to be expensive in times of recession. The mere indication that you appreciate your employees can go along way to build profitability into your business.
