BBC Big Skills 2009 – Excellence Award winner Michael Coe

During 2009 Michael Coe who at the time was working for a national Toy chain(based in Ipswich) was entered for the BBC Big Skills Awards in partnership with BBC East and the Learning and Skills Council (lsc).

The Big Skills awards were all about having a go at something new and recognising people who have made big changes in their lives through learning.

Sixteen people were shortlisted from the nominations and attended a ceremony in Ipswich on Wednesday 17th June 2009.

The winner of the overall award for Excellence was myself, Michael Coe; who also won the Employer Commitment award for – The Entertainer.

The Judges said Michael had”Gone the extra mile to inspire his staff to improve their own levels of learning.”

“His investment in his work force is remarkable and inspiring,” they added” Not only does this benefit his business, it improves his staff with a great grounding in their career – experience and qualifications. He is a true example of excellence in changing the lives of others through learning.”

What Michael did next.

During April 2011 I decided to use my HR and Training Skills to start my own Company – Dimension Eighty Eight. I am now offering my skills and service to the retail trade as a consultant and troubleshooter.
